Hammocks

Here's a great way to make your ratties happy and support PRC at the same time!  These hammocks come in a range of colours and designs, and are made of soft polar fleece and occasionally other fabrics.  A hammock is a must for any rat dwelling - the more hammocks the more comfy space available for your ratties in their cage.

Design #1: Hammock with trim and clip-on/off chains

The edges of this hammock are finished using cotton or nylon trim and the four corners have 4" lengths of chain that attach to clips.  The chain reduces the risk of hammock destruction by chewing and it also easily clips on and off when the hammock needs to be washed.

Design #2: Hammock with pull-out chain

The two lengthwise sides of this hammock are sewn so that a chain can be passed through with clips on the ends.  Having the chain run the entire length of the hammock makes it less prone to chewing damage.

Which size should I get?

Design #1:

Both small and large design #1 hammock fit best across a 1.5 to 2 ft long section of your cage.  The small size will  fit 1-2 males or 2-3 females, while the large hammock will fit 2-3 males or 4-6 females.  X-Large or custom cages will fit more rats and larger spaces.

Design #2:

Measure the length of the area where you would like the hammock to hang.  The hammock dimensions should be approximately the same length.  The fleece will stretch a bit with the weight of ratties in the hammock.

The chains on both designs are very easy to remove when the hammock needs to be washed, and very easy to re-insert or re-attach them.    

Additional hammocks of design #2 can be purchased without clips or chain at a lower price.  Consider buying extras so that you can instantly swap a dirty hammock for a clean one.
